CHARLESTON, SC – The top-seeded Furman Paladins won the SoCon men’s tournament title with a 4-1 win over second-seeded Elon on Sunday at the Earle Tennis Center on the campus of The Citadel in Charleston, SC. The win gives Furman the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA championships which begin May 9-10.

Furman won the doubles point, winning at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.  Jordan Walters gave Furman a 2-0 lead with his singles win at No. 5 over Philip Nemec but Elon picked up a match at No. 6 singles with a win for Chase Helpingstine. Furman’s Chris Motes picked up another match for the Paladins and Andy Juc defeated Damon Gooch 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 singles to clinch the match.

Juc was named the tournament most outstanding player after winning all three of his singles matches.
