
JACKSON, Tenn. – Samford senior Garrett Moores earned individual medalist honors and the Bulldogs finished second as a team at the Grover Page Classic, hosted by UT Martin, Monday and Tuesday at the Jackson Country Club (par-72, 6,776 yards).
Moores’ victory marks his first collegiate tournament win. It is also the first time a Samford player has earned medalist honors since the spring of 2013, when Drew Aimone won the Paladin Intercollegiate.
Moores finished the tournament with a 4-under-par 212 (70-70-72). He won the event by just one stroke over UT Martin’s Hunter Richardson, who finished with a three-round score of 213 (74-68-71).
Behind Moores in Samford’s playing five was Harlan Winn, who tied for 11th with a score of 223 (71-76-76). Alec Stopperich tied for 17th at 226 (78-71-77). Aaron Walker finished in a tie for 20th with a score of 227 (79-72-76), while Jackson Seawell tied for 28th with a mark of 231 (77-77-77).
Playing as individuals from Samford were Crawford Flach and Ivan Truss. Flach tied for fourth with a three-round total of 218 (76-70-72). Truss tied for 11th at 223 (70-76-77).
As a team, Samford finished with a three-round score of 886 (296-289-301). UT Martin won the event, posting a final score of 873 (291-283-299).
Samford will return to action on March 24, when the Bulldogs compete in the Furman Invitational in Greenville, S.C.
