MACON, Ga. – Taylor Miller was 2-for-4 with a run scored and two stolen bases but the Bears couldn't overcome an early deficit deepened late in the game in a 7-2 loss to Notre Dame at Sikes Field Wednesday night.
 
Miller's two stolen bases brought her to 19 for the year, second in the Southern Conference behind only Mercer teammate Meghan Rud, who swiped her 22nd stolen base of the season during Wednesday's contest.
 
The Fighting Irish (12-10) scored two runs in the first and two runs in the third but both times Mercer (12-16) responded with a run to remain within striking distance. Notre Dame would put the game out of reach with three runs in the seventh inning, extending the Irish's lead to 7-2.
 
Maxine Rodriguez (2-5) allowed seven runs – six earned – on seven hits with four walks and one strikeout in a complete game performance.
