CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel golf team fell 5-1 to Navy in match play on a blustery day at Patriots Point Links on Wednesday evening,

Freshman Andrea Hoos recorded the lone win for the Bulldogs in the competition, earning a 3&1 win over Navy’s Jane Moon after winning the 16th hole.

Cameron Little and Christine Walker waged a back-and-forth battle all day but Walker won hole 17, forcing Little to have to birdie 18 to send the match to a playoff hole. But the sophomore’s putt stopped just short of the hole as she narrowly lost to Walker.

The Bulldogs have a quick turnaround now as they head to Hilton Head, South Carolina, to take part in the Low Country Intercollegiate on Saturday and Sunday. The two-day tournament will be held at the par-72, 5,922-yard Devils Elbow South course at Moss Creek Golf Club. Both rounds of the tournament will begin with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start and feature 18 holes of competition.

The tournament, hosted by Southern Conference foe Wofford, will feature 17 teams, including Seton Hall, Bethune Cookman, Dalton State, Gardner-Webb, Appalachian State, Navy, High Point, USC Upstate, Longwood, Presbyterian, Quinnipiac, SCAD, Bucknell and USC Beaufort.
