Freshmen Pace Bucs at NCAA South Regional

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The 2017 season came to end for ETSU’s cross country teams at the NCAA South Regional on Friday, but the Bucs got a glimpse of a promising future.

Each ETSU team got its top performance from a freshman in a crowded field on the Henry Pritchett Running Park in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Lindsey Stallworth was 24th out of 228 runners in the women’s 6K, and Ben Varghese finished 18th out of 164 in the men’s 8K.

Furman Teams Qualify for NCAA Championships

EARLYSVILLE, VA. -- The Furman men’s cross country team won the 2017 NCAA Southeast Region Championship, while the Paladin women turned in a second-place finish Friday at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Va.  The top two teams in each race qualified for the NCAA Championships, which will be held Nov. 18 in Louisville, Ky.

The Furman men scored 55 points to finish first out of 32 teams, claiming the Paladins’ first region title in the history of the program.  Virginia Tech was second with 109 points, followed by Virginia in third at 130 points.  The Paladins and Hokies earned the region’s automatic bid to the national championships. Read More

Bulldogs Conclude Season at NCAA Regionals

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Citadel's cross country teams closed out the season on Friday, Nov. 10 at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships hosted by Virginia at Panorama Farms in Charlottesville, Va.

The women’s 6,000-meter race began at 10:30 a.m., followed by the men’s 10K at 11:30 a.m.

For the men’s team, senior Jamie Cunningham finished 174th overall with a time of 33 minutes, 8.70 seconds. Freshman Jeremy Shipley was close behind with a time of 35:06.50 to take 221st place.

For the women’s squad, freshman Amber Opp finished 178th overall with a time of 23:41.80 and freshman Casey Miller took 213th in 24:33.90. Read More

Poole, Watson Pace Mocs

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga cross country teams each placed 20th at the NCAA South Region Cross Country Championships Friday morning at the Harry Pritchett Running Park in Tuscaloosa.


Emily Poole paced the women's team finishing 37th overall. She covered the 6-kilometer race in a time of 21:03.2, besting her career-high run earlier this season at the same venue by more than 13 seconds. Read More

Samford Finishes Third and 10th at Regionals

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - - The Samford men's and women's cross country teams competed Friday morning in the 2017 NCAA South Regional at the Harry Pritchett Running Park in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
The women's team finished third in the race, with seniors Karisa Nelson and Anna Long qualifying for the NCAA Championship meet, while the men came in tenth in the event. Read More

UNCG Concludes Season at Regionals

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The UNCG women’s and men’s cross country teams closed out the 2017 season Friday morning at the NCAA Southeast Regional hosted by the University of Virginia at Panorama Farms. The Spartans had six female runners compete on the 6,000-meter course while seven male athletes ran on the 10,000-meter course. Read More

Mercer Competes at NCAA Regional

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Five Bears competed in the 2017 NCAA South Regional at Harry Pritchett Running Park on Friday, highlighted by sophomore Ania Grzeszczak, who finished the 6K race in a team-best 22 minutes and 3.50 seconds.
 
The Bears placed 28th overall at the event with a total time of 1:58.17.60. All five Bears finished with their best 6K times of the season. Ole Miss (1:42:05.20) won the regional race, followed by Georgia (1:41:31.70) and Southern Conference foe Samford (1:42.16.60). Read More
