Catamounts Place in Top-10 at Queen City Invitational

Charlotte, N.C. – The Western Carolina cross country teams each finished in the top-10 as the Catamounts competed in the Queen City Invitational held at McAlpine Park on Friday afternoon. The women’s team finished in seventh place while the men’s team finished in ninth place.

Kaitlyn Lingard earned her second top-10 finish of the season as she led the Catamounts with a 10th place result, finishing the 5K course in a season-best time of 17:51. Christina Nikolaou finished in 27th place in 18:26, closely followed by Lindsey Trotter’s 30th place finishing time of 18:29. Jamie Blaylock finished in 69th place, crossing the finish line in 19:07, with Siena Gates rounding out the scoring positions with an 86th place result in 19:25.

Jordan Bostian led the men with a 15th place finish, breaking the tape with an 8K time of 25:14. Tyler Robakiewicz finished in 54th place with a time of 26:23, followed by Isaiah Hanna in 61st at 26:35. Justin Tucker finished in 77th place, crossing the finish line in 27:07. Kevin Pack was the final Catamount to score, finishing in 88th thanks to a time of 27:22.

Liberty’s Noel Palmer was the women’s individual winner with a time of 17:10. On the men’s side, Azaria Kirwa of Liberty claimed first place in 23:54 as the Flames finished in the top four positions. Duke won the women’s team title while Liberty claimed the men’s team crown.

Western Carolina returns to action on Oct. 12 at the Pirate Invitational in Greenville, N.C.
