BOSTON – Looking for a strong finish to this weekend’s ECAC Championships, the VMI track and field teams had great showings from two Keydets on Sunday at Boston University’s Track and Tennis Center.
Freshman Blaine Ashton performed well in the men’s triple jump by arriving in 16th place overall with a distance of 14.32 meters (46-11.75). His other jumps for the day went for distances of 13.39 meters and 14.25 meters.
Sarah Leckman also showed well for the women’s program by placing 26th overall in the shot put with a best throw of 12.74 meters (41-9.75). The sophomore also had distances of 12.73 meters and 12.41 meters on the day.
The event wraps up the indoor season for VMI as both the men’s and women’s teams will use the next few weeks to prepare for the outdoor season. The Keydets begin the outdoor season later this month, March 29-30, at the Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State in Raleigh, North Carolina.
