GREENSBORO, N.C. – Rising UNC Greensboro men’s golf senior Jonathan Brightwell has qualified for the 2019 US Amateur after carding a 4-under-par 140 (69-71) during the two-round US Amateur Sectional Qualifying at Colleton River Club in Bluffton, South Carolina, this week.

Brightwell is one of four qualifiers from the sectional, advancing to the US Amateur that will take place Aug. 12-18 at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club.

During his time with the Spartans to date, the Charlotte, North Carolina, native has earned three All-Southern Conference selections along with tying for first at the 2017 SoCon Championship before falling in a two-hole playoff for medalist honors. In each of the past two years, Brightwell has been instrumental in UNCG earning back-to-back SoCon team championships.

Brightwell recorded five top-five finishes during his junior year.
