Esme Hamilton named Women's Golfer of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga’s Esme Hamilton has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition Oct. 2-8. The selection is made by the league office.

Hamilton finished third in a loaded field at The Princess Anne Invitational in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She opened with a school-record 5-under 65 in the first round to take the lead into the second day. The Nottingham, England, native carded a 4-over 74 in the second round but rebounded over the final 18 with a 4-under 66. Her 54-hole score of 205 tied the school record as Hamilton notched her first career top-five finish. The Mocs finished third in the tournament that featured seven players and 12 teams ranked in the Golfweek top-100.

The weekly award is Hamilton’s first of her career.

The Mocs return to the course at the Magnolia Invitational at the Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi, on Oct. 13-15.

Also nominated: Maya White (Western Carolina) and Becca Earl (Wofford).
