SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Christina Dorismond, a junior middle blocker on the Furman volleyball team, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for September 5, the league office announced today.

The Cary, N.C., native holds a 3.98 GPA in Chemistry.

Dorismond was named tournament MVP at the Willie Jewell's Invitational after leading Furman to a 4-0 record at the tournament. She hit .562 with 10 kills in Furman's 3-0 win over host Charleston Southern, and hit .529 with 11 kills in the Paladins' 3-0 win versus Canisius. Dorismond currently boasts a .339 attack percentage on the season (72 kills) and is second on the team in blocks with 19, including 7 solo blocks.

Other nominees included Appalachian State football player Troy Sanders, The Citadel football player Carson Smith, and Davidson cross country runner Presley Parkes.
