JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. – Sophomore Josh Chay carded a career-best 71 to lead the Furman men’s golf team in round two of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate on Saturday at the par-72 Blackthorn Club at the Ridges.

Chay, a native of Greer, S.C., and Riverside High School product, bogeyed only one hole during second-round play and notched birdies at No. 14 and No. 16 to move into a tie for 38th place. Senior Matt Brown drained three birdies to record his second straight even-par round to hold a share of 16th place after 36 holes.

The University of Tennessee (-9) holds a three-stroke lead over second-place Virginia (-6), with Missouri (-5) and Memphis (-5) tied for third place entering the final round.

First round co-leader Grant Milner (-10) of Memphis fired his second straight 5-under 67 to hold a five-stroke advantage over Wake Forest’s Evan Beck (-5).

Final-round play at the Blackthorn Club at the Ridges is slated for Sunday morning.
