SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Anna Claire Knight, a sophomore women's basketball player at Georgia Southern, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for January 23, the league office announced today.

Knight drained a three-pointer as the buzzer sounded to lift the Eagles to a 61-58 win over Wofford Sunday afternoon, the second game-winning, buzzer-beating shot of her career. The Dublin, Ga., native led the Eagles with 16 points and added six rebounds and a blocked shot in GSU's only game of the week. Knight ranks second on the team in scoring at 9.3 points a game and leads the Eagles in rebounding with 5.8 an outing.

The pre-sport management major holds a 3.78 GPA

Other nominees included Appalachian State women's basketball's Kelsey Sharkey, Davidson men's track & field's Demetrios Pagnois, Furman women's track & field's Catherine Burton, and Chattanooga women's basketball's Kayla Christopher.
