ELON, N.C. – First-year Phoenix head coach Christine Engel has announced the 2008 Elon men’s and women’s cross country schedule.

“I am very pleased with our 2008 cross country schedule,” Engel said. “I think it will provide many tests for our team over a variety of different courses.”

The Phoenix opens its season on Aug. 29 at the Wake Forest Relays in Winston Salem, N.C. The team will then travel to Spartanburg, S.C. on Sept. 6 for the Eye Opener Invitational, which is being held at Milliken Park.

“The Eye Opener meet on Sept. 6 will give us a chance to preview and compete on the conference championship course,” added Engel.

Elon continues its season on Sept. 20 at the ASICS/Winthrop Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C. on the Winthrop campus.

The Phoenix will make the short drive to Greensboro, N.C. for the Hagen Stone Classic on Oct. 4. The team will travel to Boone, N.C. on Oct. 17 for the Blue Ridge Open, hosted by Appalachian State, before competing in the Southern Conference Championships on Nov. 1 in Spartanburg, S.C.

Elon will conclude its regular season on Nov. 8 at North Carolina State’s Pack Invitational. The NCAA Regional Championships will take place on Nov. 15 in Tanglewood, N.C.
