SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Caroline Lemke, a sophomore at Elon, has been selected as the Southern Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for her performance in matches October 26-November 1, as announced by the league office Monday.
The middle blocker and outside hitter from Carmel, Ind., hit .455 in Elon's two matches last week and averaged 3.71 kills/set. She tallied seven blocks, including two solo. Lemke led the Phoenix in kills and blocks in both matches.
In Elon's 3-0 sweep of Samford, Lemke recorded an attack percentage of .400 while posting eight kills and four blocks. She committed only two hitting errors against the Bulldogs.
Against Chattanooga, Lemke hit .483 and tallied a season-high 18 kills. She also added three blocks. The Phoenix won the match 3-1.
At 21-5, Elon is off to its best start since making the transition to Division I.
Lemke and the Phoenix host UNC Greensboro on Wednesday and Wofford on Saturday.
