SPARTANBURG, S.C. - College of Charleston senior midfielder Steven Nagy has been named the Southern Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week for all games played October 27-November 3. Nagy scored both goals for CofC during a 2-1 win at first-place Wofford Friday evening.
Nagy fired a shot from 20 yards out in the 40th minute that tucked under the cross bar in the top right corner of the goal to give CofC a 1-0 lead against the Terriers shortly before halftime. He pushed CofC's advantage to 2-0 six minutes into the second half with an unassisted goal. Wofford trimmed the lead to 2-1 with a goal 15 minutes later, but was unable to get an equalizer as CofC improved to 4-2 in league play with the win.
A native of Cali, Colombia, Nagy is fourth on the team with eight points this season and is tied for third on the squad with four goals. He has appeared in 18 games this season for the Cougars and has earned nine starts.
The Cougars (10-8, 4-2 SoCon) return to action Friday night (November 6), when they travel to face sixth-ranked Maryland at 7:00 p.m. College of Charleston has one final league contest against Furman on November 10.
