SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Sean Dreybus, a sophomore midfielder/forward for the Mountaineers' men's soccer team has been selected as the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for November 4, the league office announced Wednesday.
The accounting major from Newport News, Va., has a 3.8 GPA.
Dreybus scored three goals in Appalachian State's two victories last week, giving him five goals on the season.
Against conference foe UNC Greensboro, he tied the score at one off a header. The Mountaineers went on to win 2-1 in overtime. In Appalachian State's game at Gardner-Webb, Dreybus tallied two goals, including the game winner, as the Mountaineers defeated the Bulldogs 4-2.
Other nominees included The Citadel football player Jordon Gilmore, Elon volleyball player Caroline Lemke, Furman golf player Daniel Bowden, UNC Greensboro cross country runner Joey Thompson and Samford cross country runner Ina Ables.
