SPARTANBURG, S.C. - UNC Greensboro, which captured its fourth consecutive Southern Conference women's soccer regular season championship, will serve as host of the 2009 conference tournament.  The Spartans, who earned the top seed, will face off against fourth-seeded Davidson Friday night at 7:30 p.m. The first semifinal of the day pits No. 2 College of Charleston against No. 3 Samford at 5:00 p.m. 

The championship match is slated for 1:00 p.m Sunday afternoon at the UNCG Soccer Stadium.

The Spartans posted 13-6 mark during the regular season, including a 9-2 record in league play.  Freshman Tabitha Padgett was named the league's Freshman of the year and Co-Player of the Year.

Padgett shared the award with Samford's Amber Cress.  Cress, who was also named first team all-conference, led the Bulldogs with 23 points during her senior season.  The Bulldogs are making their second straight appearance in the conference semifinals.

College of Charleston won seven of eight league games during one stretch of the season.  Junior defenseman Annie Pease tied for the team lead with 10 points in 2009.  She was named first team all-conference by the league's head coaches.  The Cougars are making their second trip to the league semis in three years, after falling just one match short of the league's title game in 2007.

Davidson needed a late charge at the end of the season to secure the fourth spot in this weekend's tournament.  The Wildcats are unbeaten in their last six games, including a victory over Georgia Southern on October 31 which sent Davidson to postseason play.  Seniors Blakely Low (16 pts) and Kyri Bye-Nagel (20 pts) give the Wildcats one of the top offensive duos in the conference.
