SPARTANBURG, S.C. - After winning the Southern Conference Tournament Championship on Sunday afternoon and receiving the league's automatic bid, the Terriers will open NCAA play on Thursday night at UC Santa Barbara.
The Terriers will face the Gouchos in the first round at 7:00 pm at Meredith Field at Harper Stadium. UC Santa Barbara was 15-4-2 overall this season and 8-1-1 in Big West play. They are averaging 4,528 fans a game at home.
Wofford is 12-2-3 overall, the best mark in school history as a NCAA Division I team. In conference play, the Terriers were 5-1-1, with the five wins the most in school history. The Wofford story is remarkable, after finishing last or tied for last in the standings in each of the last six seasons.
