Game One Quotes

#7 Western Carolina 61, #10 Georgia Southern 56 (OT)

Western Carolina

Head Coach Karen Middleton

"I felt like we were a little rushed early. We didn't have our composure with 15 turnovers. We just had to take a deep breath and that's what we talked about in the locker room; be composed and play within ourselves."

"Makensey Campbell is a great shooter. We were able to watch and see how to get her open a little bit and she was on fire. When she is hot like that we just have to keep giving her the ball."

Georgia Southern

Head Coach Rusty Cram

On game

"I thought we played good, we played hard. We have to be able to make plays at crucial times. They did and we didn't. I thought we had good post presence in the first half, but the second half we had none...We did a good job inside and outside. We did a good job at getting to the free throw line.  We weren't able to do enough of it in the second half. We have to give them credit because they took some of that away from us in the second half."

On Seniors

"They lay their hearts on the line and they practice hard every day. You hate to see these kids put their hearts on the line every day and see the season end like this. You hate to see it end. To me of all the losses, this one is always the hardest. Hopefully the kids that are returning next year will remember this feeling and take it into the offseason and next year."

Janay Wilson

On back-and-forth game

"It's a see-saw game, basketball is a game of runs...Its about being able to finish it and stopping those runs. You win some you lose...it's just the game of basketball."

Mimi Dubose

On play to force to overtime

"Coach Cram told us to get to the rim they'll either foul you or let you go to the rim...Time was running down and I knew I had an open lane, so I pushed our post player out of the way and took it to the hole."

On wanting the win and playing Western Carolina

"We lost to them by about nine or ten a week ago...They put us out of the tournament last year...so for us returners, it meant a lot...but we just couldn't pull it out."
