SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Southern Conference named its football players of the week today for games played Saturday, Nov. 17. Chattanooga's Jacob Huesman has been named the Offensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week, while his teammate Nick Pollard was named the Special Teams Player of the Week.  Wofford's Alvin Scioneaux was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Week. The players of the week are selected by the conference office.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER AND FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK: Jacob Huesman, Chattanooga, Fr., QB, Chattanooga, Tenn.
Freshman quarterback Jacob Huesman accounted for all three Chattanooga touchdowns as the Mocs defeated Elon, 24-17 Saturday.  Huesman completed 13 of 25 pass attempts for 234 yards and two touchdowns.  He also carried the ball 21 times for 109 yards and a score.  With the game tied (10-10) at halftime, Huesman engineered two touchdown drives in the third quarter to push the Mocs ahead.  He found Terrell Robinson from 13 yards out to give UTC a seven-point cushion (17-10) and later connected with Robinson on a 67-yard strike in the third quarter.  The 67-yard pass was Huesman's longest completion of the season.  He also caught one pass in the win and accounted for 345 yards of total offense.
Other Offensive Nominees: VanDyke Jones (The Citadel), Aaron Mellette (Elon), Jerick McKinnon (Georgia Southern), and Eric Breitenstein (Wofford).
Other Freshman Nominees: James Riley (The Citadel), Patrick Flowe (Georgia Southern), James Bradberry (Samford) and Sertonuse Harris (Western Carolina).

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Alvin Scioneaux, Jr., LB, Garyville, La.
Junior linebacker Alvin Scioneaux turned in a strong all-around performance as Wofford fell at FBS South Carolina 24-7 Saturday.  Scioneaux recorded a team-high 12 tackles as the Terriers' defense held South Carolina to just 293 yards of total offense.  He recorded his first career interception when he picked off USC's Connor Shaw in the first quarter.  The Garyville, La., native also added 3.5 tackles for loss, a sack for minus-4 yards, and a forced fumble Saturday afternoon.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Nick Pollard, So., P, Smyrna, Tenn.
Sophomore Nick Pollard averaged 43.2 yards on six punts in Chattanooga's win over Elon.  The sophomore pinned Elon inside its own 20-yard line on five of his six punts.  Two of his final three punts were downed inside the Phoenix 10-yard line.  Pollard booted three punts over 50 yards, including a game-high 58-yarder.  He also connected on a 30-yard field goal midway through the first quarter and converted all three of his extra-point attempts.
