Connor Griffin will serve as the championships assistant for the Southern Conference for the 2016-17 academic year. Griffin will assist the director of championships in the management and coordination of SoCon championship tournaments and will have significant responsibilities in the conference’s awards and merchandising efforts.

A 2016 graduate of the State University of New York College at Cortland, Griffin was a four-year member of the baseball team, which won three regional titles and the 2015 NCAA Division III national championship, the first in school history. An all-conference second baseman, Griffin hit .409 in 29 contests as a junior for the title-winning squad.

Griffin was a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection during his playing career and won SUNY Cortland’s 2015-16 Robert J. Weber Award as the male student-athlete with the highest grade point average. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi and Chi Alpha Sigma honor societies and graduated with a degree in sport management.

As an undergraduate, Griffin worked with SUNY Cortland’s event operations and sports information staffs in a variety of roles, performing duties such as keeping statistics, maintaining the school’s athletics website, writing press releases, ticketing, operating a video camera and security. He also served an internship with the State University of New York Athletic Conference, assisting with media relations, multimedia and championships duties.

Griffin has served as a game-day intern for the Cotuit Kettleers of the Cape Cod League and as an assistant coach and director of baseball operations for the Cortland Crush of the New York Collegiate Baseball League.
