SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer forward Will Bagrou has been named the Southern Conference men’s soccer player of the week for all competition from Sept. 4-10 after scoring a game-winning goal against the No. 16 Washington Huskies on Sunday.

The senior from Dacula, Georgia, lifted the Bears to their first win of the season, burying the go-ahead goal less than a minute into overtime. Sunday marked the fifth straight overtime game for Mercer, a program record. Bagrou now leads the Southern Conference in points, goals and shots.

Mercer was scheduled to play Presbyterian on Wednesday, but due to Hurricane Irma, that match has been postponed. The Bears next return to the field Saturday when they travel to Georgia Southern.

Also nominated: Chase Clack (ETSU), Cole McLagan (Furman) and Jon Harrington (VMI).
