SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer’s Sydni Means has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Basketball player of the week for games played Nov. 10 to Nov. 13, the conference announced Tuesday.
Means started her senior season off with a bang in a 73-64 win at UCF, recording her first double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 assists, just two assists shy of her career best. Means went 4-of-6 from the floor in the win and 7-of-8 from the charity stripe, logging 37 minutes of action.
In the second game of the week, the Stone Mountain, Georgia, native played 36 minutes and dropped 14 points en route to the Bears’ 66-56 win at Florida Atlantic. Means also handed out seven assists in the game, giving her 19 total and an average of 9.5 per game for the week. The 5-5 guard finished the weekend with 29 points, averaging 14.5 per game, and seven steals. Means also shot 55.6 percent from the floor and 90.0 percent from the free-throw line in the two wins.
