Furman's Hirai named Women's Golfer of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Reona Hirai has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from March 7-13. The selection is made by the league office.

Hirai averaged a score of 70.67, tying for overall at the SunTrust Women’s Gator Invitational on Sunday with a 2-over-par 212. The senior from Summerville, South Carolina, opened up the tournament with a score of 1-under 69, followed by a second-round 72. Hirai shot a 71 in the third round to finish fifth in a field of 75 players. The Paladins, who are ranked seventh nationally, tied for second in the tournament, which included No. 12 Florida.

Furman will next compete on March 23-25 in the Clemson Invitational.
