LEWISBURG, Pa. – Kerisha Goode earned a pair of runner-up finishes, Lee Warren was second in the 110-meter hurdles and the men's 4x800-meter relay team won its race as VMI’s track and field teams wrapped up competition at the Bison Outdoor Classic, hosted by Bucknell in Lewisburg, Pa., on Sunday.
The Keydet victory on the day came in the 4x800-meter relay, where Jackson Betts, Micah Ellington, Jahanzib Shahbaz and Josh Willard teamed up for a 7:49.82 time. A trio of second-place finishes were on the docket, as well, with Goode finishing second in both the 100-meter dash (12.13) and the 200-meter dash (24.97) and Warren placing second in the 110-meter hurdles (14.92).
Further successes continued in the men's 4x100-meter relay, with John Collins, Andrew Gould, James Granderson and Caleb Minus finishing fifth with a time of 43.18 seconds. Bethany King also continued her recent run of success, finishing fifth in the 3,000-meter run in 10:25.75, while VMI's other top-15 finishes on the day came in the men's pole vault, where Andrew Arlint tied for 14th (4.50 meters/14 feet, 9 inches) and Sarah Leckman was 10th in the women's shot put (13.11 meters/43 feet, 0.25 inches).
VMI track and field will return to action Friday, when the Keydets begin competition at the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C.
