Furman's Buchalski sets school record in 1,500m

STANFORD, Calif. – Furman senior Allie Buchalski set a new Paladin record in the women’s 1,500-meter run to lead the Paladin track and field teams Thursday night at the Payton Jordan Invitational in Stanford, Calif.

Buchalski took first in the event with a time of 4:17.73, breaking her own previous record of 4:19.24, which she set in March. Her time ranks 11th in the East.

Sophomore Savannah Carnahan placed sixth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:02.49, and sophomore Gabrielle Jennings was also sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, posting a time of 10:10.41, which ranks ninth in the East.

On the men’s side, senior Troy Reeder posted a time of 8:51.32, fifth-best in the East, in the 3,000m steeplechase, taking eighth place. Senior Frank Lara was 27th in the 5,000m at 14:11.65.

Select members of the Paladin team will compete in the 800-meter run and 1,500m at the Oregon Twilight meet on Friday night in Eugene, Ore.
