MACON, Ga. – Mercer Men's Soccer star freshman, Trevor Martineau, has laid claim to yet another postseason award. Martineau has been named to the College Soccer News All-Freshman Second Team, as well as being ranked No. 22 among College Soccer News Top 100 Freshmen list.
Since the conclusion of the season, Martineau has been honored by College Soccer News, TopDrawerSoccer and the United Soccer Coaches. The Texas native was most recently tabbed to the TopDrawerSoccer Freshman Best XI Second Team. Martineau was also named to the United Soccer Coaches All-South Region Second Team, marking the fifth consecutive season that a Mercer Bear was named to a regional squad and sixth out of the last seven campaigns. The Texas native was also the first Mercer freshman to garner the award from the United Soccer Coaches since former Mercer great Will Bagrou was named to the All-Region Second Team in 2014.
The freshman forward led the SoCon in points (25), goals (9), game-winning goals (5) and finished third in assists with seven. Martineau was tabbed as the SoCon Freshman of the Year, SoCon Player of the Year and was named to both the All-SoCon First Team and All-SoCon Freshman Team. Martineau became just the second freshman in league history to win player of the year, joining Thompson Usiyan of Appalachian State (1977). Martineau was also labeled as the SoCon Player of the Month (Oct.) and became the first freshman in SoCon history to capture three conference player of the week honors.
