MACON, Ga. – Mercer sophomore forward Trevor Martineau has been named to College Soccer News’ Preseason All-America Third Team, CSN announced Tuesday.

Martineau was the 2018 Southern Conference Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year – one of just two freshmen in SoCon men’s soccer history to win player of the year. He also became the first freshman to ever claim three player of the week honors in a single season in league history.

The McKinney, Texas, native led the conference in points (25), goals (9) and game-winners (5) – he was also third with seven assists. Martineau’s efforts helped lead the Bears to their third straight SoCon title and their fourth in the last five years.

Mercer men’s soccer will kick off its season with an exhibition game against Oglethorpe at Betts Stadium on August 19, while the regular season will get underway on August 30 at Cincinnati.
