SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga women’s golfer Esme Hamilton has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition between Oct. 2-8.
Hamilton finished third in a loaded field at The Princess Anne Invitational in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She opened with a school-record 5-under 65 in the first round to take the lead into the second day. The Nottingham, England, native carded a 4-over 74 in the second round but rebounded over the final 18 with a 4-under 66. Her 54-hole score of 205 tied the school record as Hamilton notched her first career top-five finish. The Mocs finished third in the tournament that featured seven players and 12 teams ranked in the Golfweek top-100. Hamilton was also named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for her performance.
An environmental studies major, Hamilton holds a 4.00 grade point average.
The Mocs return to the course at the Magnolia Invitational at the Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi, on Oct. 13-15.
