Samford to face Louisville in NCAA tournament

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford volleyball team will take on the Louisville Cardinals in the first round of the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship on Thursday in Bowling Green, Kentucky, at a regional hosted by Western Kentucky.

Samford's match with Louisville is set to begin at 5 p.m. (CT) at Western Kentucky's E.A. Diddle Arena. Following the Samford-Louisville match, Western Kentucky will host Kennesaw State. The winners of the two matches will play the following night at 7 p.m. (CT).
 
Samford advanced to its second straight NCAA tournament with a 3-2 win over ETSU in the finals of the Southern Conference Championship on Nov. 24. Samford won the regular-season title in the SoCon as well, finishing with a record of 24-5 overall and 15-1 in SoCon play.
 
Samford and Louisville have met just once previously in volleyball. The teams met on Sept. 1, 2012, with the Cardinals winning, 3-1 in Louisville, Kentucky.
 
This is Samford's fifth NCAA Ttournament appearance. The Bulldogs earned bids previously in 2011, 2014, 2016 and 2018.
