SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference announced pairing for the 2009 Men’s Basketball Tournament, slated to begin Friday (March 6) at McKenzie Arena in Chattanooga, Tenn. Davidson (18-2, SoCon) and Chattanooga (11-9 SoCon) secured the top seeds in the south and north divisions, respectively. The Wildcats and Mocs, along with Western Carolina (No. 2 seed North) and The Citadel (No. 2 seed South) earned byes until Saturday.
The tournament will begin with Appalachian State (No. 4 North) taking on Georgia Southern (No. 5 South) at 2:00 p.m. Friday afternoon. That game will be followed by College of Charleston (No. 3 South) taking on UNC Greensboro (No. 6 North). Friday’s evening session begins when Wofford (No. 4 South) squares off against Elon (No. 5 North). The Samford Bulldogs (No. 3 North) take on the Furman Paladins (No. 6 South) in the final game of the first day.
