SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference announced today that Appalachian State’s Arie Muniz has been named the Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for October 24.
Muniz, a freshman from Spring, Texas, led the Mountaineers to two wins last week. The forward started the week with ASU’s second goal in a 3-0 win over Mercer on Tuesday. Muniz then added an assist and a goal in a 4-2 win over College of Charleston on Saturday.
On the week, Muniz recorded five points on two goals and an assist. He has seven goals this season, the most by any freshman in the league, and is among the conference leaders in points per game.
Other top performers from last week include College of Charleston’s Drew Fuzy, Elon’s Taylor Saxe, Furman’s Patrick Murray, Georgia Southern’s Adam Webb and UNC Greensboro’s Thomas Campbell.
