SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Sam Coffer, a women’s basketball player for Elon, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for Nov. 13, the league office announced Wednesday.

Coffer is a native of Greensboro, N.C., native and boasts a 3.98 GPA in biochemistry. She was a key factor in Elon’s 73-68 season-opening win over Winston-Salem State on Friday, posting a double-double for the Phoenix.

Coffer finished the night with 14 points and 14 rebounds, both new career highs, and added four assists and two blocks in the victory. She earned her points by shooting 3-of-6 from the field and hitting two of her three shots from 3-point range.

Also nominated were Appalachian State wrestler Dominic Parisi, Citadel football player Brandon McCladdie, Davidson women’s basketball player Lillian McCabe, Furman women’s soccer player India Robinson, Georgia Southern football player Matt Dobson, Chattanooga women’s basketball player Alicia Payne and Wofford volleyball player Amanda Liguori.
