MACON, Ga. – Former Mercer women’s basketball standout Linnea Rosendal has signed a professional contract to continue her playing career at C.B. Arxil in Pontevedra, Spain.

“I’m so thankful for the support that Mercer has given me during the last four years,” Rosendal said. “I want to thank all my coaches and teammates for making such a big impact on my time here, plus my family for all the support they’ve shown me over the years. I’m excited about the opportunity to continue playing the game I love.”

The 6-1 sharpshooter was a key component in the winningest senior class in school history – a group that led the Bears to 104 wins, four consecutive SoCon Championships and a couple of appearances in the NCAA tournament.

“When Linnea came to Mercer she already had a lot of international experience from her time on the Swedish National Team,” head women’s basketball coach Susie Gardner said. “She’s always had an extremely high basketball IQ. As her career was ending, she finally had to pause and figure out what was next. I think her love for the game made her realize that she didn’t want to be done playing yet.”

A native of Stockholm, Sweden, she leaves Mercer with the third-most made 3-pointers in the school’s career record book with 181, while also ranking in the top 10 in 3-point field goal percentage. She was named the SoCon Freshman of the Year in 2016 after knocking down 65 3s in 33 contests.

Rosendal joins former teammate KeKe Calloway as members of the 2019 senior class that have recently signed to play professionally in Europe – Calloway agreed to take her talents to Polish AZS Poznań back in May.

“I’m really proud that this class of five seniors are all getting the chance to do what they love and are excelling in their chosen fields,” Gardner said. “We have two playing professionally and three pursuing their occupational goals, so I’m extremely happy for the whole class along with Linnea, individually.”
