BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Samford senior linebacker Deion Pierre has been selected to play in the fourth-annual FCS Bowl at Daytona Beach Stadium in Daytona Beach, Florida.
The game is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 10, at 12:30 p.m. (CT). The FCS Bowl is an annual post-season college football all-star game consisting of the top football players from FCS schools. Fans can watch the game live at the following link: WATCH LIVE.
This season, Pierre finished third on the team with 90 tackles, including 46 solo stops. Pierre had 4.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. He also had two pass break-ups, three quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a blocked kick.
Pierre finished his career with 205 total tackles, 108 solo. He also had 10.0 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. Pierre contributed three pass break-ups, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and an interception.
Pierre and the Bulldogs posted a record of 8-4 overall and 6-2 in SoCon play this season. Samford reached the FCS Playoffs in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 1992.
