Wofford's Magee named finalist for Jerry West Award

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford guard Fletcher Magee has been named one of 10 finalists for the Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award, as announced by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Tuesday afternoon. The award is presented annually to the top shooting guard in Division I men’s college basketball.

The junior from Orlando leads the NCAA in 3-pointers made (104) and is second in 3s per game (4.33). He leads the Southern Conference and is 11th nationally in scoring, averaging 22.4 points per game.

Magee was also named to the midseason watch lists for both the Lute Olson Award (National Player of the Year who has played at least two seasons) and the Lou Henson Award (National Mid-Major Player of the Year).

In March, five finalists will be presented to West and the Hall of Fame’s selection committee for the 2018 Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award. The winner will be honored at ESPN’s College Basketball Awards presented by Wendy’s in downtown Los Angeles on Friday, April 6, 2018.
