GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman men’s lacrosse associate head coach Andrew Athens has been selected as the first-ever head coach of the Greece Men’s Senior team, which will be competing in Greece’s first-ever World Championship in Nentanya, Israel, in July 2018.

“I am honored to be named as the first Greek men’s coach,” Athens said. “I want to thank Bob Vlahakis and the Board of Directors for this great honor to lead the Greece National team.”

Athens was promoted to Furman’s associate head coach earlier this summer. He has been with the program since its inception, and serves as Furman's defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator and oversees quality control.

Athens graduated from Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina, and finished his career as PC's all-time leader in points, goals and assists. Athens graduated in May 2011 with a degree in business administration and began his collegiate coaching career there, serving as an undergraduate intern.
