SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga’s Claire Mulyadi has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for all matches played Feb. 17-23. The junior won the clinching singles matches for the Mocs last week as UTC picked up wins over Mercer (6-0) and Middle Tennessee State (5-2).
Mulyadi posted a straight-sets win (6-2, 6-1) over Mercer’s Natalie Franklin to move to 5-1 in singles play this spring. The Samarang, Indonesia, native then rallied for a 4-6, 6-0, 6-4 victory over MTSU’s Irina Constantinide at No. 5 singles.
In doubles play, Mulyadi was paired with Kelsey Coots as the No. 3 team for the Mocs. Mulyadi and Coots posted an 8-0 win over MTSU’s Flavia Nagayama and Sarah Sediri in their first completed doubles match together, bringing her doubles record to 4-2 this spring.
The Mocs return to action Wednesday when UTC plays host to Lee University.
Other top performers in the Southern Conference included Appalachian State’s Gabrielle Wreder, Davidson’s Brites Moniz-Soares, Elon’s Jordan Johnston, Furman’s Ansley Speaks, Samford’s Yasmeen Ebada, Western Carolina’s Stacia Kissell and Wofford’s Sarah Evans.
