All the seeds are set for the 2002 Southern Conference Baseball Championships which begin on Wednesday, May 22, at Joseph Riley Park in Charleston, SC.

The last two seeds were not determined until Sunday, May 19, the final day of the regular season. Furman defeated East Tennessee State, 9-4, to gain entry into the tournament field and keep Davidson at home.

The Citadel has won the outright SoCon regular season championship and earned the top seed in the upcoming tournament. The Bulldogs claimed their 12th baseball title with a 22-8 league record.

Western Carolina is the number two seed, having finished the regular season at 20-10. College of Charleston is the third seed (19-11) and Georgia Southern is fourth (18-11). UNC Greensboro is the fifth seed at 17-11.

Furman and Wofford finished in a tie for sixth place with the Paladins earning the sixth seed and Wofford the seventh seed. Furman took two of three from Wofford during the regular season series.

East Tennessee State and Davidson finished in a tie for eighth place. The Bucs and Wildcats split their regular season series as rain wiped out one game. In comparing how each team did against the next highest seeded team, both were swept by number one seed The Citadel, and each team and each went 1-2 against #2 Western Carolina. The tie is broken by comparing scores against #3 College of Charleston. Davidson was 1-2 against CofC while East Tennessee State went 2-1 against the Cougars.
