SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Davidson junior Nik Cochran has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Week for all games played December 13-19 the league office announced Tuesday (Dec. 20).  Cochran scored a team-high 21 points, 19 of which came in the second half, as Davidson knocked off No. 12 Kansas 80-74 in Kansas City, Mo., Monday night.

Holding a three-point lead with 1:25 remaining in the game, Cochran hit a 25-foot three-pointer to give the Wildcats a  71-65 advantage.  Cochran connected on 7-of-8 free throws during the game's final 3:04 to seal the win.  He shot 5-of-6 from the field and was 4-of-5 from three-point range as all four of his triples came in the second half.  The Vancouver native added three assists and two rebounds in just 21 minutes of action against the Jayhawks.

Cochran leads the Southern Conference in free throw percentage (.929) and ranks fourth in three-point percentage (.467).

The Wildcats (7-3) travel to UMass Thursday night.

Other top performers in the Southern Conference included Appalachian State's Omar Carter, College of Charleston's Antwaine Wiggins, The Citadel's Mike Groselle, Furman's Bryson Barnes, Chattanooga's Drazen Zlovaric, Samford's Drew Windler and Wofford's Kevin Giltner.
