SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Thirty-three Southern Conference rifle student-athletes were among the 192 honored recently by the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association as Scholastic All-Americans. The Citadel’s co-ed and women’s teams combined for 10 honorees, while UAB had eight and VMI’s two teams combined for seven.

In order to be a CRCA Scholastic All-American, student-athletes must by NCAA-eligible, full-time students with at least a 3.2 grade-point average during the fall 2016 semester.

SoCon champion North Georgia had five rifle student-athletes earn the distinction, including Smallbore and Rifle Athlete of the Year Ruthanne Conner, who earned the league’s Pinnacle Award for having the highest GPA on the championship-winning team.

Wofford had three CRCA Scholastic All-Americans, as seven of the eight SoCon squads were recognized.
