MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The No. 20 University of North Georgia rifle team held its own against a stacked field at the Memphis Tiger Invitational, finishing in seventh place against many nationally ranked teams. The Nighthawks competed against nationally-ranked No. 1 TCU, No. 11 Memphis, No. 14 Jacksonville State, No. 15 Navy, No. 17 Morehead State and No. 19 UT Martin.
Ruthanne Conner finished in 17th out of 61 shooters in the smallbore discipline, shooting a 573 that included a perfect 100 in her fourth string of shots. Freshman Kimberlee Nettles led UNG in the air rifle, finishing in 21st with a 583. Her score included four strings with a 98 or 99 score.
UNG's Dakota Spivey finished his weekend of shooting with an 1144 aggregate score, finishing in 34th and 29th in smallbore and air rifle, respectively.
The Nighthawks will have almost two weeks before taking on Georgia Southern in Southern Conference action on October 14 in Statesboro, Georgia.
