WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Wofford women's lacrosse team fell 19-4 at Army on Thursday afternoon.  With the loss, Wofford falls to 0-3 on the season, while Army improves to 5-2 with the win.  
 
Army scored the first goal of the game two and a half minutes in. The Black Knights pushed the lead to 10-0 with 13:49 to go in the half and earned a running clock. Army's lead stretched to 13-0 before Wofford got on the board. JoJo Franklin capitalized on a free position attempt, Wofford's first and only of the half, with 2:14 left in the first period. The goal was the fourth of the season for the junior from Denver. The 13-1 score held until the half.
 
Army started the second half with six straight goals over the course of 19 minutes of play. Down 19-1, Wofford closed the final six minutes of the game on a 3-0 run. Delaney Irwin started the scoring as the freshman scored her third goal of the season on a pass from Paige Sedlar. The assist was the first of Sedlar's career. Three minutes later, Irwin scored her second of the game and fourth of the season on a free position attempt. With time winding down, Hannah Mutch netted her team-leading sixth goal of the season on an assist from Sedlar.
 
Army won 16 draw control, while Wofford won eight. Army held an advantage in shots, 37-13, though Wofford had only three less in the second half (14-11). The Terriers had 22 turnovers to Army's 13. The Black Knights finished with a slight 19-16 edge in groundballs.
 
Goalkeeper Kelsey Thompson recorded 11 saves in the loss.
 
Wofford remains in the northeast for the next contest. Next up, the Terriers take on Manhattan on Saturday, March 10 at 11 a.m. Then, Wofford returns home for the next two, hosting LIU Brooklyn on March 15 and San Diego State on March 18.
