SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman women’s cross country runner Allie Buchalski has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition held Nov. 15-21, the league office announced Wednesday.
Buchalski placed ninth with a time of 19:42.42 at the 2017 NCAA Cross Country Championships in Louisville, Kentucky, on Nov. 18, earning her sixth-career All-American citation. The senior helped the 11th-ranked Paladin women, who were making their first-ever team appearance at the meet, to a seventh-place finish out of 31 total teams. The Johns Creek, Georgia, native claimed her second cross country All-American award after pacing the Paladins on the 6k course.
The senior was named the 2017 SoCon Women’s Runner of the Year after winning the individual title at the SoCon Championship in October. Buchalski ran as an individual for Furman at the 2015 NCAA Cross Country Championships, where she claimed All-American honors after placing seventh, the highest finish ever by a Paladin athlete at a national meet. Buchalski also holds All-American accolades for both indoor and outdoor track.
Buchalski, who is a business administration major, holds a 3.65 grade point average.
