SPARTANBURG, S.C. –Furman cross country runner Savannah Carnahan has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition held Oct. 24-30.
The Cumming, Georgia, native came in second at the Southern Conference Cross Country Championship on Saturday. She crossed the finish line with a time of 17:21.81 in the women’s 5K and helped the lead the Paladin’s to their sixth straight conference title. Canahran was also named the women’s SoCon Pinnacle Award winner for holding the highest-grade point average on the championship team, as well as was named to the All-SoCon first team for the third time in her career. She has placed among the top three at the last three SoCon Championship meets.
Carnahan is a double-major in applied mathematics and chemistry and currently holds a 3.92 grade point average.
