Wofford, Furman ranked in AFCA preseason top 25

WACO, Texas – Two Southern Conference teams appear in preseason edition of the AFCA FCS Coaches’ Top 25, announced Monday. Wofford checks in at No. 8 in the poll, while Furman is No. 17.

The Terriers, who have won at least a share of the last two SoCon titles and are the preseason pick to repeat, earned 437 points in the preseason AFCA poll. Wofford finished last season ranked 12th in the final AFCA poll after going 9-4 overall (6-2 SoCon) and advancing to the second round of the FCS playoffs.

Furman picked up 183 points in the preseason AFCA poll. The Paladins shared the 2018 SoCon title with Wofford and ETSU, also posting a 6-2 league mark as part of a 6-4 overall record. Furman’s title was its first since 2013.

ETSU, Chattanooga and The Citadel also received votes in the poll.
