MACON, Ga. – Mercer head coach Bobby Lamb has been appointed as a member of the NCAA Division I Football Oversight Committee for 2018-19, as announced by the NCAA Office. Lamb’s term expires in June 2019, but he is eligible for reappointment.
Lamb replaces UTSA Vice President and Athletics Director Lisa Campos, who assumed a position on the NCAA Division I Council. He is one of 17 members of the committee and one of just three from the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) level.
“I am honored to be named to the Football Oversight Committee and I am extremely proud to represent Mercer University and the Southern Conference,” Lamb said. “I look forward to serving the game of football and taking strides toward promoting our student-athletes’ growth alongside various leaders in the industry.”
Lamb will lead Mercer’s football program into its sixth season of play this fall after returning to the gridiron following a 72-year hiatus. He has guided the Bears to three wins over nationally ranked FCS opponents and is a former finalist for FCS National Coach of the Year. The Augusta, Ga., native has over three decades of experience – playing and coaching – in college football. He played quarterback at Furman (1982-85) before joining the Paladins’ coaching staff for the following 24 years, the final nine of which he served as head coach.

The committee is comprised of representatives from each divisional subgroup that sponsors football.
