Nine earn STATS FCS Preseason All-America honors

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Nine Southern Conference student-athletes representing four league schools were named to the STATS FCS Preseason All-America team, announced Tuesday.

 

Samford and Western Carolina each had a league-best three players earn the honor, with Bulldog quarterback Devlin Hodges and defensive lineman Ahmad Gooden, the reigning SoCon Offensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, respectively, earning first-team distinction. Teammate Kelvin McKnight was a second-team selection at wide receiver.

 

For the Catamounts, defensive back Marvin Tillman and punter Ian Berryman were second-team picks, while offensive lineman Zach Weeks was a third-team selection.

 

Wofford defensive lineman Miles Brown was a first-team selection and teammate Andre Stoddard earned a third-team slot at fullback.

 

The Citadel’s Tyler Davis earned second-team mention on the offensive line.
