SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Citadel football quarterback Brandon Rainey has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition between Oct. 9-15.
Rainey accounted for five total touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ 35-17 victory over Western Carolina on Oct. 12. In the first half, the Acworth, Georgia, native ran for two touchdowns and threw for two more. Rainey added a career high third touchdown pass to seal the victory over the Catamounts. He became the first Bulldog quarterback since 2017 to throw for three touchdowns and it was also the second time in the last three weeks that Rainey has accounted for five touchdowns in a game.
A business administration major, Rainey holds a 3.625 grade point average.
Rainey and the Bulldogs will hit the road to face No. 11 Furman on Oct. 19, with kickoff set for 1 p.m.
