SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference named its football players of the week Monday for all games played Oct. 28. Furman running back Antonio Wilcox was named the SoCon Offensive Player of the Week, while Chattanooga’s Tae Davis and Victor Ulmo were tabbed the Defensive Player of the Week and Special Teams Player of the Week, respectively. The players of the week are selected by the league office.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Antonio Wilcox, Furman, Sr., RB, Fitzgerald, Ga.
Furman running back Antonio Wilcox ran for a career-high 202 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries in the Paladins’ 28-6 road upset of No. 20 Western Carolina on Saturday. The senior from Fitzgerald, Georgia, had a career-long 68-yard run in the third quarter to set up a Furman score and added a 48-yard scoring run in the fourth as the Paladins salted away their first win over a ranked team since 2013. Wilcox, who turned in the Paladins’ first 200-yard rushing performance since 2012, notched 167 of his yards in the second half and helped Furman to a season-best 363 team rushing effort. The Paladins have now won six straight games, their longest streak since 2005.

With the Mocs trailing 21-20 and Samford inside the UTC 30-yard line threatening to add on, Davis forced a fumble with 2:37 left in the game to set up Chattanooga’s game-winning drive.
